We arrived slightly early but the Europcar guy was friendly and went out of his way to help us get away as quickly as possible. It would have been five stars if the guy hadn't then tried to sell us excess insurance (which we already had). This made the whole thing slightly uncomfortable, which was a major shame as otherwise it would have been perfect. Please can Europcar train its people not to clumsily up-sell insurance to its customers? It seems to be endemic in the sector, unfortunately. I want to be left alone to make my own decisions about what insurance I buy, not frightened into buying Europcar's insurance!
Like: The vehicle I booked was lovely and was great value for money. Dislike: The guy on the rental desk wasn’t particularly friendly at all. It doesn’t cost anything to smile. The guy who mans the returns area was lovely though.
Dislike: I made a mistake on my booking and it's the worst online company to get hold of anyone to correct my mistake but once I managed to call Euro car in maidstone direct my problem was fixed ...
Like: convenient and courteous Dislike: They tried to take £700 + from my credit card because I didn't need to take their policy ( I have fully comprehensive insurance for all vehicles driven) even though the small print mentioned only £200
The counter staff were very helpful at pick-up and drop-off, but they do not take you to the car. you have to sign the papers before you see the car. The car was the expected size, cleanliness was acceptable, but it had a lot of scratches
I saw many online reviews mentioning people getting ripped off, but I didn't believe it. Unfortunately, I fell into the same trap with a forced vehicle upgrade! The sales staff at the store were terrible! They indirectly forced me to upgrade the vehicle and verbally assured me there would be no extra charge! However, when signing, the additional upgrade fee was included! Scammers! For a 13-day rental, I initially paid almost 5000 RMB, but with the upgrade, they charged an additional 7500 RMB, averaging over 900 RMB per day! At this rate, I could have rented a Range Rover! Disgusting!
Like: The team of Europcar goes that extra mile to keep the customer satisfied at all times Dislike: Spent too much time on getting the vehicle, need more customer service people during peak hours
