Europcar vehicles are not permitted to travel on the ferry. For this reason we operate the inter-island travel service, whereby, the car is left at one ferry terminal and another car is waiting for you at the ferry terminal on the other island. Europcar only allows customers to exchange their vehicle once for cross-island travel,and does not support multiple vehicle exchanges between islands. Ferry Transportation: Not Allowed

Europcar does not allow to bring the rental vehicle to ferry. You will drop off your car at one port and collect another after crossing to the other island.     I would like to share a constructive feedbacks as follows: 1. Counter check in staff The counter staff were awesome and nice, they informed us in advance that they're new, they did their best to follow all the written instructions to help with the pick up process. Behind us there were 3 other customers. But shame for Europcar, they should have some senior staff to assist the new staff to avoid long queue and complaints. 2. Full tank for the new renter Make sure to check the fuel meter when the previous renter return the car to make sure it's full tank. I I picked the car up with millage at 3679km (pic.#1) , just realized when I was travelling at 3772km - mileage left to travel 765km (pic.#2), it was just 3km away from airport that the fuel meter showed only 15 bars (full tank is 16 bars). For the clear details at 3777km when I pulled over to take another photo (pic.#3). I didn't bother to return to the counter to complaint as I had an appointment that I was late because of the long process. In the middle of the trip, I refuelled and it showed 16 bars on the fuel meter and millage left to travel 926km (pic.#4). From this only, I felt cheated as if only I took the vehicle full tank, I would have travelled another 161km. Another clear information (pic.#5) when I refuelled again at the Z-petrol station by Frankton Road in Queenstown before return the vehicle at Queenstown airport which only 2.5km away. Again, millage left to travel still 957km and not 765km as when I picked up. Thank you.

    Europcar Queenstown 034425887 Georgie (Europcar Christchurch airport) who helped us when we collected the car from Christchurch was awesome. She was so friendly and helpful. She allocated a brand new KIA Carnival for us (mileage was only 20 Km) which was a wonderful surprise. The car was so spacious and had all of the safety features that you expect from 2022 model. The ride was so smooth and comfortable for 6 people. I was so reluctant to return it at the end of our trip

    Arrived at the airport at 5 PM and asked if I could pick up the car earlier since my order was for 7 PM. The store confirmed it was possible and said I needed to wait a bit. I got the car around 6 PM. I specifically asked the store what time I should return the car and if I needed to return it earlier. They said according to the order, return at 7 PM, but I could come half an hour early for the formalities. In the end, they charged me an extra day because I rented the car at 6 PM and returned it at 6:50 PM. This is ridiculous!

    I've rented from various companies multiple times, but this was my first and very unpleasant experience with Europcar. First, the counter staff was quite indifferent. Second, despite having fully paid and purchased the super comprehensive insurance via Zuzuche, and having additional travel insurance that covers overseas self-driving, Europcar still tried to push their insurance on us. They initially refused to acknowledge our booking, and only after persistent negotiation did they relent. This already left a bad impression. Third, they pre-charged NZD 200 on my credit card for fuel, which they promised to refund if the car was returned with a full tank. This was acceptable. However, a couple of days later, they charged another NZD 200 without any explanation, causing confusion. Given our ongoing trip and a similar unresolved situation with a friend in Europe, our trust in Europcar was already low. We contacted Zuzuche's after-sales service, who responded quickly. After uploading a screenshot of the deduction, we received a refund roughly equivalent to NZD 200 the next day, albeit with some exchange rate loss. Fortunately, it was a minor loss. The main issue wasn't the money but the unauthorized, unjustified charges, which are unlawful. We appreciate Zuzuche's prompt and effective service, which helped resolve the first incorrect charge despite limited communication options abroad. However, the initial NZD 200 taken at the counter hasn't been refunded yet. We returned the car with a full tank and even confirmed with the Europcar counter, who assured us it would be refunded within 10 business days, pending the bank's process. We are still waiting, hoping there won’t be any further issues.

    The Europcar counter is right in the domestic arrivals hall. We picked up the car around 9 am. There was no one in line, so we were helped immediately. All the counter staff were of Indian descent and had a bit of an accent, but they were very nice. They checked our passport, driver's license, and its translation, asked if we had bought insurance, and then gave us the car keys. We walked to the parking lot ourselves to pick up the car. The parking lot is left when you exit the arrivals hall. Compared to other car rentals at the airport, Europcar has relatively fewer parking spots.

    Their attitude was pretty good; they were polite and didn't push insurance sales. However, their service was lacking. I rented a Mitsubishi Pajero SUV, but they gave me a Ford pickup. Firstly, this car is available in our country and is half the price of a Pajero. The vehicle was very rough, just a work tool, with no floor mats in the trunk, only bare metal. You can imagine it like a dump truck. Our luggage suffered a lot of wear and tear, with the back of the suitcase getting badly damaged. The trunk was too large, and the back seats were too small, making it uncomfortable for passengers. The luggage slid around in the trunk and was out of reach unless you climbed inside. The diesel engine was also very noisy, making a loud rumbling noise while driving.

    I went to so much trouble to ensure I book a Ford Mustang (which is celebrating its 60 year anniversary in 2024) as a surprise for my wife who happened to turn 60 on the 29th September 2024. Needless to say it was impossible to find another Ford Mustang an hour before I was to book out of our hotel so we trundled along in a RAV 4 which I would not drive if you paid me back in Australia. As you can imagine it was an absolute mood spoiler on what should have been a HUGE surprise. I understand that cars get damaged (which is what I was told) but to then offer an entry level RAV 4 as replacement is a slap in the face – I would have thought that the least your company could have done was to offer us a complimentary upgrade – what I would have expected of your company was to advise me upfront that the vehicle was not available, when it became evident – but I guess that is too much to expect given the volumes of customers you deal with.
