Spanish siesta time is frustrating! I chose to pick up the car at 1 PM on Monday, April 22nd. The booking showed that the store's operating hours were 8:00-21:00. When we arrived at the store with all our luggage at 1:05 PM, the doors were closed! There were no signs indicating a move or closure. After waiting a bit, we met a man who seemed to be returning a car. He informed us that it was a local holiday and the store was closed in the afternoon. Monday, holiday? I couldn't believe it and quickly checked online, discovering that April 22nd was Easter Monday in Catalonia! How would anyone not local know that?! We contacted the car rental company's international hotline, and after some negotiation, they arranged a taxi to another rental company at Barcelona Airport. I had booked an Audi A3, but the company’s new order was for a Golf. The staff said the car they provided was cheaper than the one I initially booked. They promised to refund me the difference. However, to my dismay, I was later informed that they could only refund the base car rental price after deducting the insurance. As a result, the base rental for the Golf was actually more expensive than the Audi A3! The case is still under appeal. My advice is never to rent a car from a city store in Spain; their operating hours are too unpredictable. The car rental company is also highly irresponsible!
I booked online months ago including passport details, name, home address and DOB of both drivers to only have to do it all again when we pick up the car. Surely there is a quicker way of doing this. The drop off point in Madrid was difficult to find. No on the street signage to indicate location. Long wait for other renters to fill in their details that we missed transfer bust the airport. But overall the experience of using this rental company was good.
The guy on our return was quite rude. The way he drove the rental car, the way he accused us of damaging the car. The Canadian guy when we arrived couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
We were a bit late and asked if we'd be charged for an extra day. They didn't answer but silently charged us 42 euros. If they charge for an extra day, I wouldn't have returned the car that day.
Due to communication issues, I only needed an additional driver insurance, but the rental company charged me for comprehensive insurance, resulting in double charges of 773.45 euros. I had previously chosen the super supplemental insurance with my booking on the rental platform, meaning I wouldn't need to pay any extra fees in case of any issues. I couldn't contact the rental platform while abroad, and I am currently resolving the issue with them after returning home.
“Directions of where to collect car and drop it off should be essential part of booking info”
About Firefly:7.3/10
Car was immaculate. Staff more interested in in conversations. Directions to pick up and drop off non existent. Spent 40 minutes trying to find place. Not ideal when dark and late at night
At Barcelona airport, AVIS was the only car rental company with a queue for car pick-up, while others were deserted. This shows its popularity; the service was naturally attentive and excellent.
I didnt received the contract(the told me the will sent it by mail but the forgot)
When i received the car the lady at the counter spoke Spanish with me..I don't speak any.
When i brought the car back the service was just perfect.
Both pickup and drop-off were relatively easy and not too much trouble. They tried to sell me insurance at pickup, but I told them I already had full coverage, so it was fine. Drop-off was quick too; they just checked the car's exterior and the full fuel tank, and that was it. However, the drop-off location needs some improvement. Following the address provided by QEEQ, we ended up driving into the airport parking lot, which cost us extra parking fees and wasted time. The correct address provided by QEEQ was actually the car rental counter in the airport, but the real drop-off location was an underground parking lot outside. Since it was too close, we couldn't use the GPS and had to navigate manually. We spent over half an hour just to find the drop-off point by following airport signs.

Mauvaise fin d'experience, dommage.
“Very smooth but be prepared to wait s long time.”
About Budget:9.0/10
Waited over an hour at the pick up counter to get my rental that I prepaid online. And then waited another 20 minutes at the pick up location for the vehicle.
