The Aucar - Mel Airport car rental location is located out of the airport

Please contact the staff to pick you up to Aucar - Mel Airport car rental when you arrived.

AUCAR is located outside of the airport. It is 5-10 minutes' drive from the airport. After taking your luggage, please contact Aucar (dial: 03-90907273 / 0406155888) to arrange shuttle bus. Please go and wait at the PARKROYAL HOTEL public pick up area in front of Terminal 2. Here you will see a shuttle bus with AUCAR logo within 10 minutes. If you have to pick up car at a later time due to a personal reason (due to fight delay, or other emergencies), please contact AUCAR in advance.

Drop-off Instructions

Please return the vehicle to our office at 26 Catalina Dr, Tullamarine VIC 3043. We offer a complimentary shuttle service to Melbourne Tullamarine Airport for your convenience.

    We couldn't understand the person who told us where to go & then couldn't understand her when she was picking us up...it wasn't clear that she was a shuttle & not dropping off our van. When we arrived at the rental car location, we had to wait 15-20 min for our car to be ready & then it turned out to be a huge box van (people mover) that looked like it had been in a more than a few accidents! I don't want to drive a wrecked car when we rent a car. I want something in good condition both inside & outside.

    Maybe for AUCars to have a fixed meeting spot for the shuttle. The text just had a number to call. The problem was the heavy accent of the person I called and I called them in the noisey environment of the airport. Maybe in the text nominate the meet spot. The shuttle also needed to be identified maybe two magnetic signs in door of shuttle. Other than that rental was great and staff at AU cars were courteous.

    Told I had an “upgrade” to a Jeep Cherokee which had serious damage to the left hand side of the vehicle. Stated I wanted a small car not a damaged SUV and informed they had no small cars and gave me a Hyundai. This car had serious understeer, accelerator would not engage when accelerating from stand still for 5 to 10 seconds then it would lurch forward. had only 1/4 of a tank. When I returned vehicle to “Tina” she said she would cover part of the fuel and knock $5 hire per day off. I would have much rather Ed the vehicle (or similar) that I had asked for and not had the condescending experience of being offered “an upgrade”. Car was not roadworthy for purpose and Tina, while giving a return, was still obnoxious with her attitude.

    The rent was such good value I was a little concerned. Some reviews on other sites were raised caution but we found Aucar to be an excellent provider. The pick up situation wasn’t the easiest but for the cheaper price you’ll always get off-airport companies! the van came to pick us up after 20mins or so and insisted we used kids car seats, which I found a professional and caring touch. The car we had matched what we’d booked perfectly (large SUV- the company seems to specialise in them, there were loads!) and was clean and tidy. Whilst loading my wife needed to breastfeed. Without asking one of the staff came over to ask if she needed anything to assist her, which is a really nice touch. The staff took photos of the car in my presence and emailed them to me for evidence - nice smart and modern touch. After rent the handover process was quick and the staff apologised for the delay getting us to the airport, even though it was only 5mins. In summary we had an excellent car and the staff were professional, efficient and courteous. The value was excellent and I’d recommend giving Aucar a go.

    I had to call twice to get the correct information as to who was collecting me from the pick up zone. The driver of the van was very polite and helpful. Chinese man. After being served at the counter staff member answered the phone an rather than placing on hold or a call back continued with her call which took a while. Another person was served after me by another staff member and was gone before me. When I enquired about the GPS I ordered I was told Id need to pay more money, despite the money already showing in my credit card and having to place a $100 bond. She finally put the GPS in place (which by the way did not work properly and was in my line of sight on the screen). The fuel tank was at half so the staff member told me I could bring it back at 3 bars from he bottom. She took photos said she would email them to me. (which never arrived). Finally I left feeling exhausted by the whole process. The outside of the car was dirty inside clean. On return the male staff member told me I hadnt filled the tank to full. I informed him that it was only at half and I refilled to there. He was ok with that as he found the original photos.

    We booked a small car for fuel economy, but were given a much larger Nissan with around 65,000 kms on the clock. The car had damage on almost every outside panel, and on both the front and back interior panels. The brakes groaned and squeaked every time we braked. The airbag light was flashing the whole time. Aucar clearly caters to the Asian market, as all documentation is in Chinese, and the reversing sensor talks in Chinese. Staff were reasonably friendly, but this is honestly the worst hire car we have ever had.

    Worst car rental ever. 1. Lack of communication between staff. One staff calls and confirmed that I have a flight at 8 am with check in close at 730. I arrive at the car company to drop off at 7.10 and there is no van to drop me off till 725 pm. And the person on the front desk (Vincent) couldn’t tell me in English about when the driver will come. Instead he seemed frustrated when I was asking the same question again and again or else I could have booked a cab and not missed my flight. He was attending another client and finally he said aiyah aiyah, let me check ur car (in front of the other client and with a Chinese accent- highly unprofessional and should be a driver rather than a front desk staff). In the end I missed my flight and had to pay 150 to get my next flight for 11 am. This company is such a waste of my time and money and I only wish I had paid a little extra to book a car at the airport. The place appeared unorganised. The car which i ordered was not the same I got. I got an SUV but I ordered a compact car. The girl seemed proud that I got a bigger car, but sadly she didn’t know that I’m used to driving small cars and find parking of these big cars very challenging. The same happened, it was not convenient to drive but I managed. I called my car insurance to get a rental car insurance sorted before I drove off. When I was picking up the car, the girl took pictures of car condition from every angel (which I think was unique).

    As a first time driver in Melbourne, it will be very helpful that the rental company provide information on the parking rule and traffic ruling, esp when parking in CDB area. Our learning was not easy and it took us a while to figure out how it works. Traveling on those roads with city tram proves another challenge as our first visit.

    The staff were lovely at Aucar, they were super helpful and polite. I pre arranged for a certain type of car to fit everything in. Both vehicles requested were there all ready for us. We did have a sheriff question us about some outstanding warrants on the vehicle but nothing came of it, and the car wasn’t seized thankfully. Both cars tyres hardly had any tread on them and one tyre constantly lost air. We filled it each day.

    I had booked a Nissan Qashdai prior to my trip, for sure i noted that i may not get Nissan Qashdai as the rental car platform already stated the car may differ due to the demand. Nonetheless, i get a Holden Captiva Old Car without any reverse camera or USB port. After lodged complaint, they change Suzuki Vitara to me with the more than 110K km mileage. I did not see any Nissan Qashdai or better car at their shop. Probably they are using Nissan Qashdai photos with cheapest price to misleading customer. Not recommended.

    Counter staff did not arrange for our pick-up from the airport. Even though they sent me an SMS the day before arrival with instructions to call them when we arrived, when I called them upon arrival, the staff did not know about our booking and made no arrangement to pick us up from the airport. Only after 2 phone calls later did they pick us up. When we arrived at their office, they did not have our car ready. Several excuses were made with no regard for the time we lost just waiting for the car to be ready. All in all, after our long flight, we got into our car 2 hours after the booking time.

    All I needed was a car to get from A to B and back. Got a late model stationwagon that was perfectly adequate. Engine was a bit rough around the edges, but for what I wanted and the rate I paid - was more than happy with the car and the service received. And finally a rental car company that uses a camera to record damage pre/post rental. Would happily use Aucar in the future.

    It was nice to be upgraded to a larger car, however the car is in need of a service. We got the car with the ‘47km to service’ light on. It was clear it needed a wheel alignment when we travelled at 100km/hr. The company said it may take up to 14 business days to return the hold on my debit card but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was returned just 2 business days later!

    When I phoned to arrange pickup at the airport the person on the phone had little English and I could not ascertain where the pickup was to be. My wife has limited mobility and the experience was distressing. When we finally got to the Aucar rental office, they did not have a copy of the rental agreement and there was no internet connection so I was unable to access it on my phone. The person showing me the car wanted me to sign the rental agreement before I had inspected the car! when we finally got to inspect the car the staff member could not start it! Fortunately the return process was much better. However, the printed agreement still had me returning the car at 12.30 despite the fact that due to the above experience I did not commence the hire period until 13.15

    Car rental company did not have the specific car Audi Q5, even though booking says it is for specific car model. Nevertheless, counter staff offer free upgrade to Q7. Although he was holding the Q7 car key, but he cannot locate the Q7 in the car lots. In the end, I settled for a Volvo XC60 parked just right outside of the reception. To my surprise, the counter staff just blank out the printed text “Audi Q5” with correction tape on my rental agreement paper! And write over it “XC40”! He reasssured me this is fine. Now I know why the Q5 and Q7 are missing from the car park lot.

    Pick up experiences (unacceptable) - On arrival I made 29 calls before some answer my call. It took me 1 hour to reach Aucar. I used AU phone number to contact Aucar. - Aucar is really bad with managing their time. They knew how many customer they need to pick up but they failed to full fill their duty. They told me 10-15mins waiting times to pick me up from airport but it actually took them 30mins. Moreover, Aucar told me to walk from other end (avis) to their van (enterprise car rental) and told me to wait for next van because this van is full. So I waited 25 minutes for the next pick up. When next van arrived they told me to walk back to Avis end when they supposed to pick me up from enterprise end because they told me to wait there. Overall, their customer service really poor and timing is unacceptable. It took me 2 hours in the total. Note: It was 44degrees really sunny day. Car conditions: - I booked Compact - Ford Focus or similar but I got upgrade to camry. - There are scratches all over the car. - Fuel tank is not fill up. - Car was looking clean but smells like smoke in the car. It’s really bad. Overall, even though, I got up grade but it’s not so important to me because I booked smaller car for a reason, I want to be able to get around in the city easily.     Took a while to phone through for shuttle to the store. At the store, we waited around 1.5 hrs before we got our car. They were so understaffed that the car was sitting there for a long time waiting for them to do a quick clean. At the end of my rental, I returned the car 1.5hrs early in case they were running late. However, after my flight home I received a call from Aucar to say I was suppose to return the car at this time. So had to explain to the staff I've already returned it earlier, I even signed off on their checklist. Based on my experience, this company is very unorganized. Base rental price was good but cost for additional driver was quite dear. If you use this company, make sure you allow more time for pickup and dropoff.

    The vehicle exceeded expectations as we were upgraded to a larger size car at no extra expense. Staff were courteous and helpful though having to pay an extra charge for a late pickup due to flight cancellations was harsh especially as Aurcar was staying open due to the Xmas demand. The vehicle did have minor damage to a fender that required taping to reduce damage. This was not noted at pick up and no compensation was offered to me for out of pocket expenses for the special vehicle tape. Overall though a positive experience all round.

    Externally Vehicle was washed prior to giving for rental but internally, It was smelly, seat all dirty marks; it needs good steam clean internally before renting out again. They put the fragrance to remove foul smell but it was not working enough, even I put brand new car fragrance but still the smell was present. Although the location is a little away from the airport, they provide free shuttle from and to airport. The guys at the desk are highly ptofessional and punctual. At the end of my rental period, I had drop off time of 7 am at their facility, 4 to 5 km away from which opens at 7. My flight was at 8 and I had some apprehension. But, to my relief I was at the airport at 7.11am. Because, the guy came at 6.59, quicky checked the car and dropped me off to the airport. Highly recommend.

    The car rental company charged 50 AUD for cleaning a child seat, which is highly unreasonable! When returning the car, I checked the vehicle thoroughly inside and out with the staff, and they said everything was fine and asked me to sign. Before leaving, I confirmed again with the staff that the car had been inspected and there would be no charges to my credit card, except for the highway tolls as those could not be billed immediately. However, after I returned to China, the car rental company sent a photo of the child seat, claiming it was dirty and demanding 50 AUD for cleaning. This is completely unreasonable! Why wasn't it mentioned on the spot when both parties were present? We knew beforehand that there would be charges if the seat was dirty, so we were very careful while using it and checked thoroughly before returning the car. There was no dirt at all, and the staff had also confirmed this. Now, after returning to China, they send a photo claiming it was dirty and demanding payment. This is very frustrating! Firstly, I checked and confirmed the seat was not dirty when returning the car; secondly, the staff also said everything was fine; thirdly, a photo alone is not convincing; and lastly, any issues should be addressed on the spot when both parties are present—claims made afterwards are not acceptable.

    Poor service and bad experience affected my trip mood. The rental company is run by a Chinese, small in scale and ground. During the return, we had to move our stuff three times from the car. The road to Twelve Apostles Hotel was not very good, some mud splashed on the back of the car. The rental company insisted we wash it. They said we could use their water to wash it ourselves, but they claimed several cars were waiting for a wash, and directed us to a nearby self-service car wash which cost 11 AUD after waiting. Strongly not recommended. If possible, definitely use a larger chain rental company.

    It was very windy on the day we picked up the car. We made our first call, and they told us to wait at a designated spot. On the second call, we informed them that we were already at the spot, and they said they were on the way and would be there soon. After waiting for more than twenty minutes and freezing, we called a third time and they arrived ten minutes later. When they arrived, they didn't help us with our luggage and just watched us struggle. At the store, we had booked a Toyota Corolla since that's what we use at home. But they gave us a small QQ car instead, which was very cramped for three people and two pieces of luggage. One piece of luggage had to be put in the back seat. They claimed it was the same model, but these cars are not the same at all—it was a complete rip-off.

    The originally booked SUV was not available and was downgraded. When we got the keys and entered the car, the safety lock was broken, which was unsafe especially for children. We switched to a second car, only to find the air conditioning blew out hot air. After much hassle, we switched to a third downgraded car, wasting nearly 2 hours (from the original 1 PM to nearly 3 PM). In a hurry, we took the third downgraded car, but soon discovered it had no GPS and not even a USB port. During our 4-day Melbourne trip, we had to navigate with 3 phones taking turns. We couldn’t listen to music or take photos to save battery for navigation. Charging phones became our top priority every night at the hotel, or we couldn’t use the phones for navigation the next day. In desperation, we bought a car USB port, which didn’t work in the car but worked fine in a friend’s car, proving the car port was broken. Terrible service!!!

    After arriving, you must call them and go to the Avis across the street to wait for the shuttle to the car rental company. The ride is about 10 minutes from the airport. The car was terrible, the exterior was all scratched The car smelled bad, had to open the windows for ventilation, the air conditioning filter definitely hadn't been changed in a long time. The whole trip I was worried about being scammed on return, luckily it didn't happen You get what you pay for; when traveling, the most important thing is a smooth experience, I don't recommend saving 300-400 yuan by using a smelly car Additionally, if there's an accident on the road, no one will likely help you I work in this industry in China, so I should be fair

    We didn't check thoroughly at the start. After four to five days of driving, the weather got hot, and we found the air conditioning wasn't working.     The store was very busy when I went to pick up the car, but it was well managed and the staff were very friendly. By the time I got to pick up my car, the originally booked model was no longer available. After negotiating, the store manager upgraded me to a Porsche Cayenne for a small additional fee. After returning the car, I carelessly left my wallet in the car. Even though the staff had finished work, they delivered it to my hotel at around 11 PM and firmly refused to accept any service fee. Encountering such a good company and warm service in a foreign country, along with the beautiful scenery of Australia, made it all very worth it. I strongly recommend Aucar.

    They will charge you a few hundred yuan two months later, claiming it is for a violation management fee. Since there was no violation, they will say it is for the manual cost to verify this. After verification, they confirm there was no violation, but the verification cost of a few hundred yuan has to be paid by me… Such unjustified charges… I won't use them again, and I advise others not to either.
