I was happy with the car and price of the hire. It could have been better if the gps i hired wasnt set in chinese and needed to be changed back to english. By the time i was in the car and fitting it the girl behind the counter had already left the building to drop another customer off at the airport so had to wait for her to come back to sort the problem out and the bloke that was there had dissapeared also only reapearing just before the girl at the office returned. It would be good if i could have left earlier.
The level of insurance cover to cover all claim excesses turned out to be through a different company to ezu so if i had to make a claim i would still have had to pay a $3000.00 excess and then claim that excess through the other insurance company if something was to happen I would rather have known about this before booking. Anyway the car went well and was fuel efficent and it did'nt give me any problems so I was happy about that.

EZU is a small car rental company with friendly counter staff. The car we received fulfilled our expectation, it seemed relatively new and was fuel efficient. They offer cheap car rental rates. We will surely rent a car with EZU again.

The car had over 100,000 km on it with several scrapes and scratches, not that I cared, except that they charged me $83NZD for "damage" to the front and back of the car, however, in the pictures they sent I could not see any damage (I could be wrong, but if there was anything it was just minor scrapes that were indistinguishable from the rest of the scrapes and scratches already on the car). While the price was by far the lowest, and I did like their touch of providing a cell phone holder on the vent and a double USB 9V adapter to plug your phone cords into, it was very difficult to get a pickup from the airport since we were traveling internationally and did not have cell phone service. Likewise, they did not provide drop off instructions so when we arrived at 6:45am or so and no one was there and the gate was locked we were lucky to find the somewhat hidden and unmarked drop box attached to their gate (which appeared to technically be on the property next door which is a trucking or shipping company, so we took a chance on that being the EZU key drop box and not the trucking company drop box or a mailbox).

Pick up and drop off was extremely prompt and efficient. Photos were taken of the car and a quick check done on drop off. Previously with a different rental company at drop off they went over it in minute detail that gave the impression that any little tiny stone chip would result in a charge but ezu indicated that little stone chip on the front would be considered normal wear and tear so that was comforting to us after our prior experience. we would definately use them again.

A shallow 3 cm surface paint scratch on the front side panel costs 1183.35 NZD, which is insane, and it took EZU more than 5 weeks to provide the receipt of the repair service. 2000 NZD was charged on my credit card, of which 1183.35 NZD is still charged, and the insurance won't give any update on how the case of reimbursement is processing. Very bad experience. I don't know when I can get my money back.

The pick up is a bit further from the airport but it is okay as they come to pick us up in a shuttle. Approximately 7-8 minutes drive from the airport. Some issues with drop off as no staff at the depot so had to wait for about 30 minutes. I rang them and was told that they are dropping off a customer to the airport. If it wasn't for the flight delay, I would have missed my flight.

We were hoping for a hatchback but ended up with a saloon. Luckily the boxed bicycle would just fit in. Having the bike caused problems at the airport pickup as the car couldn’t take the two of us as well as the bike. One of us had to wait for another vehicle. We did say we had a bike when we phoned to ask to be collected! Other than this small hitch, the whole process of getting the car was quick and straight forward. The staff were extremely pleasant.

Booked corolla but got the different model from this company. It was bigger than I thought. From previous journey, we couldn't fit our bags so had to put 2 bags at back seats, but this car was more than enough to put all .
Car was pretty old (ran more than 100000km) and no Bluetooth functions so had to get audio line from petrol station which didn't bother too much
Despite car was old, company maintained the car so well so it was nice and comfortable during our journey
and customer Service was tooooo good

The car was different to the one booked. It was a larger car so not as easy for city driving but we were happy with the extra space.
The car was a Japanese import and had an entertainment system that was very hard to use. This radio bandwidth expander should be changed and the satnav maps updated.

We frequently contacted the rental company during our trip, and they were always very courteous. The only dissatisfaction was with the person who handled our rental process. They only mentioned that the car should be returned with a full tank but didn't provide any driving tips or local rules. If it weren't our second time driving in New Zealand, we might have missed many local regulations. The rental company should not only explain the charges but also inform drivers about local driving rules. The employee just parked the car at the entrance and left. They didn't verify the existing scratches in front of us nor mentioned that the car had a foot brake. For a driver unfamiliar with the car, there should be some explanation. I had to figure everything out on my own. If it were my first time driving locally, I would have been completely lost.

The reception attitude on the day we picked up the car was very indifferent. When we returned the car, there was no one at the store, and no message was sent to us. We were very anxious because we had to catch a flight back home. They didn't answer the phone, and later replied on WeChat saying that there's no use in rushing as they are coming to pick us up. It felt very unpleasant. The car was quite old and didn't have in-car charging. The cigarette lighter socket was not functional. It wasn't as thoughtful as the other company we used previously.

The company is very unprofessional, with only one Chinese staff member managing the store year-round. Due to our flight time, we couldn't refuel the car before returning it and wanted to pay the staff (the only Chinese person) directly for the fuel. The staff’s authentic Beijing accent felt very familiar and friendly in a foreign country. They had a great attitude, provided proactive pickup and drop-off services, and the rental process was smooth and efficient. On October 3rd, after we landed, I called them to inform them that we had arrived. They told me to call again once we were outside the gate. When I called again, they said to wait 15 minutes. We, 3 adults and a baby, waited in the cold wind for more than 20 minutes. After finally getting on the shuttle bus, we had to wait for other people as well. The car was not at the airport. The staff had a very bad attitude, did not let us inspect the car before signing, and did not help us install the baby seat we paid for! The reviews said the car had a reversing camera, but when I was reversing, I found out it didn't! This led to me hitting a small mailbox, and now they are asking for over 900 dollars! When returning the car on October 17th, I waited at the office for 15 minutes before someone showed up. We negotiated from 4 PM to 6 PM. I said I would complain to the car rental service, and a female manager with short hair and glasses said they could take half the responsibility and charge me around 500 dollars. She wanted me to pay them 500 dollars at that moment and said the total cost would be over 900 dollars. However, my friend asked different car rentals in New Zealand, and the quotes were around 400-500 dollars. I believe in being honest! This car rental company caused this issue by not providing a car with a reversing camera as promised. Their attitude was also bad. They charged me 90 dollars for delivering a spare key, which I quickly paid. I was willing to pay for the parking fee myself. Still, I cannot accept this unreasonable demand for such a high amount, especially when the responsibility is unclear. I believe I am not at fault and got involved in a mess! It ruined my mood, and I feel wronged! This is the worst car rental experience I've ever had!

I was charged $500+ for a tiny ding on the front bumper, even though the staff said it'd probably be around $150.
