Booked a mid size SUV specifically to fit our luggage. As soon as the rental clerk realised we didn’t need the additional insurance we were palmed off with a smaller SUV than needed. No pre inspection by the staff, couldn’t be bothered, luckily I always take extensive photos and videos as on returning the vehicle the inspection guy stated that I should have highlighted the parking dents and scratches before hand. Luckily I have photos on pickup and drop off. Beware!

Extremely terrible.
I had a reservation with Hertz to pick up the car at San Francisco Airport and return it in downtown San Francisco. I was supposed to pick up the car on 3.9 at 10:30 AM at the airport and return it on 3.13 in downtown, costing less than 1100 RMB. I chose the prepaid option via Zuzuche. Upon arrival at San Francisco Airport, I had to take a shuttle train to the car rental point, with no directions available, but fortunately, my colleague had been there before. When I got to the Hertz counter on the third floor of the parking garage, I was told to go to the first floor. On the first floor, they said their computer was broken and directed me back to the parking garage. At the parking garage office, the staff, who was of Chinese descent, was extremely rude and impolite, suggesting that I fill out a handwritten form since their computer was still down. All conversations were in English, and if I misunderstood any word, their attitude got worse. My impression of Hertz was extremely negative.
They also took my credit card into a back room to make a copy, which took it out of my sight, and charged a $200 pre-authorization, despite this being a prepaid order!
The real trouble started with the return. Given my experience with a domestic car rental company, I knew the return time could be lenient. Still, since this was an international rental, I reminded myself to be extra cautious.
Including the grace period, the return time was supposed to be before 11:00 AM on 3.13. Here comes the interesting part:
1. On 3.13, Daylight Saving Time (DST) was in effect, so the clock was turned forward by one hour, meaning 11:00 AM was actually 10:00 AM.
2. My hotel reminded me about DST, so I left an hour early, considering the new time.
3. Despite rushing, I arrived at the downtown parking garage around 10:20 AM. The staff inspected the car for five minutes and confirmed a full tank, which I had filled twice the night before and the day of, just to avoid any issues.
4. At the counter, the receipt showed 10:33 AM, and I was told I’d be charged a $26.25 late fee since I supposedly picked up the car at 10:00 AM on 3.9.
My reservation was for a return at 11:00 AM, so why am I being fined for returning at 10:25 AM, especially considering the DST hour loss? Despite my protests, it was useless. They had already copied my credit card, so I had no choice but to accept the loss and leave.

Chinese reception, speaks Mandarin. They didn't inform us in advance that the reserved car was unavailable. Upon picking up the car, we found out and communicated with the staff. They offered us a smaller Dodge or a Chevrolet for an extra $300 per day. We ended up spending an additional $160 on two insurances (one of which was for collision with uninsured vehicles, which in hindsight, was unnecessary). Returning the car was smooth; it was inspected on the spot and the deposit was refunded within two hours.

I wanted to rent a high-end car like the Chrysler 300C, but I got a Buick LaCrosse instead. That aside, the trunk couldn't be locked, and it could still be opened even when the car was locked, which made me nervous for more than ten days. When I arrived at the store, it was already 1 AM. The staff didn't say anything and just asked me to swipe my card. I had two rentals; during the first one in Los Angeles, the staff introduced several types of insurance and only charged us extra after we agreed. However, in San Francisco, the insurance fee was charged without my consent or even my knowledge. This was very disappointing. Additionally, the car rented during the first trip had a battery issue on December 10th, which wasted a whole half day of our time meant for exploring the Grand Canyon. The case number for that issue is 160322227. I chose this company because of its reputation, but my overall experience was not satisfactory.

From San Francisco Airport to St. Louis Airport is less than 400 kilometers, and according to the car type provided, we only used about 70% of a tank, but the rental company charged us $57.52 for fuel. At that time, this amount could fill more than two tanks. I raised this issue with the car rental customer service, but they said they couldn't handle it. In fact, it’s very easy to return the car with a full tank at U.S. airports. This is a reminder to other customers to avoid unfair charges.

The front desk staff provided excellent service, but the quality of the vehicle didn't meet my expectations compared to previous experiences. The first car I was given had over fifty thousand miles on it, and the exhaust pipe got loose on the second day, causing a lot of noise. I had to go to another city branch to change the car, but they could only offer a smaller category, from a mid-to-large size SUV to a compact SUV. The Buick Enclave was switched to a Kia Sorento, and all the luxury features were gone. The electric ventilated and heated seats were replaced with manual cloth seats, which had more than twenty thousand miles. This wasn't a big issue, but at 70 miles per hour, the front wheels vibrated, and braking caused the whole car to shake. It felt like there were problems with the wheel balance and brake discs. I had to endure it for another 15 days until returning the car in Los Angeles. This was something I had never experienced with Hertz before. It seems the three-year pandemic has significantly impacted the quality of rental cars. I plan to switch to a different rental company like Alamo or Avis in the future. Overall, this experience was disappointing, I wasted money on an unworthy car, and I would advise others to choose their rental company carefully.

The service provided by Zuzuche is truly frustrating. When encountering issues with car pick-up, it's impossible to effectively negotiate with the local branch and we have to negotiate with the headquarters, which takes 20 working days! It's hard to imagine how helpless a tourist feels in a foreign country unable to pick up a car while Zuzuche does nothing to help. Nearly 10 days have passed, and Zuzuche has not proactively contacted us, provided no solutions, and given no updates. They are constantly evading the problem.
When booking a car, make sure to check which locations accept UnionPay cards. However, Zuzuche now marks all locations as not accepting UnionPay cards to avoid taking responsibility for not knowing the service of the branches.
Make sure to call the branch in advance to confirm and avoid any losses. Based on my personal experience at the rental hall of San Francisco Airport, Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty accept UnionPay cards and provide excellent service.
Be cautious when booking with Sixt, as they do not accept UnionPay cards, and deliberately list many low-priced cars without insurance on the platform to attract customers. In reality, driving without liability insurance is illegal in California, and the branch forces you to purchase it at an additional cost of over 20 dollars per day. Strongly condemn such unethical practices by Sixt.
Hertz's service is very professional, but the compact car category is not very reasonable. I initially booked a Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla but ended up with a Honda Brio. I had to pay extra to upgrade to a Camry, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise as it was almost new with less than 3000 miles. It truly felt like a high-end car. In the future, it's safer to rent from the mid to large-size car category.

It's hard to imagine how helpless a tourist feels when they can't pick up their car in a foreign country while the platform does nothing! Nearly 10 days have passed, and the platform has not proactively contacted me, provided any solutions, or given any updates, constantly avoiding the issue.
Everyone needs to pay attention to which stores accept UnionPay cards when booking a car. However, the platform now sets it so that UnionPay cards are not accepted, avoiding their responsibility for not understanding the store's services.
To avoid losses, make sure to call the store in advance to confirm. Based on my personal experience, at the San Francisco airport rental hall, Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty accept UnionPay cards, and their services are excellent.
Be cautious about booking with Sixt; they do not accept UnionPay cards and deliberately list many low-priced models without insurance to attract customers. In California, you cannot drive without third-party liability insurance, and the store will force you to purchase it for an extra $20+ per day. I strongly condemn such unscrupulous practices by Sixt.
Hertz's service is very professional, but the compact car group is not very practical. I intended to book a Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla but ended up with a Honda Brio. I had to upgrade to a Camry for an additional cost, which was quite surprising as the Camry was very new, with less than 3000 miles, and felt like a high-end car. In the future, renting from the mid-to-large car group seems more reliable.

The billing from the car rental company was completely different from what was advertised on the website. They inexplicably charged us more than three times the original price. My friend rented the same car model from Avis, which was more than half the price compared to Hertz. Also, the Hertz San Francisco Airport branch didn't have the Mustang model at all. I really don't know how your company is coordinating with them. The experience was terrible.

Overall very satisfied, no pushy insurance sales. However, there was an issue during pickup. We booked a Pathfinder but were given a pickup truck, which didn't meet our needs. After communicating, we got a brand-new Kia minivan with only 629 miles on it. We drove over 3000 miles in 13 days.

The service from Hertz was very good, but Americans are not very efficient. We waited for over half an hour to pick up the car, even though there were hardly any people ahead of us. The best part about Hertz cars is that they all come with Fastrak, so you can use the Fastrak lanes on toll bridges and pay later when you return the car. The QX80 we exchanged for was excellent, white, with no scratches, very new inside, and highly equipped. It even had built-in navigation and XM radio. We had four suitcases and bought three more, completely filling up the third-row seats when folded. Luckily, we changed cars. However, parking a large car was challenging since many parking spaces were quite small. Hertz's phone service was very quick, and they answered our questions accurately and promptly.
